Chuck Todd: Trump candidacy 'not fair' to 'strongest' Republican field in 36 years

RCP.com: On Wednesday's broadcast of MSNBC's Morning Joe, host of NBC's Meet the Press Chuck Todd criticized Donald Trump and his campaign for the presidency...

Todd said, "...(C)ampaigns complain to folks like me off the record, but they don't have the guts to criticize him on the record because they know he's kind of a media bully. You know what I mean? He doesn't -- he plays by his own set of rules. He'll say whatever. He'll go on any platform to say it...

"I don't want to see the Republican primary race or any presidential race turn into a three-ring circus and us, you know, sitting there going 'Isn't this great?'" Todd lamented. "And look at the shiny metal objects. It's not fair to what is the strongest Republican party presidential field in 36 years."

For this performance of the U.S. presidential election, the role of Reverend Wright will be played by #BlackLivesMatter; and the role of Chuck Todd's reaction to Mitt Romney's call for a truce on political attacks on his record is being played by Daily Kos' reaction to Chuck Todd's call for a truce on Donald Trump's media bullying!

Daily Kos: Chuck Todd is unhappy with Donald Trump's Republican candidacy. He is making the other candidates feel bad. He is not playing by everyone else's rules. Has he even "earned" the right to run?

Donald Trump's theories on the un-Americanness of the current sitting president are not intrinsically less embarrassing than previous candidates' notions of a government setting up secret death panels. Or government "ammo hoarding." Or Benghazi "stand-down" orders. Or a worldwide network of powerful, sinister climate scientists plotting against ma and pa coal plant...Trump's suppositions that, for example, Mexican immigrants are mostly drug dealers is fundamentally identical to House immigration policy maker Steve King, who admonished us all to note the super-sized calves of those same immigrants, a characteristic of ferrying heavy drug loads across that border...

A...presidential field made up almost exclusively of embarrassments is not stronger than two, three, or five candidates who demonstrably might know what the hell they are talking about. Which are the strong candidates, then? The universally despised-by-his-peers senator? The other senator who achieved electoral success bequeathed by his father, and who has accomplished precious little since? The governor turned Christian radio shock jock? The senator who abandoned efforts to get his party to be slightly less racist after polls showing the party didn't think much of the idea? The indicted fellow? The not-indicted one? The one who touts union busting as his ostensible foreign policy credential? The universally acknowledged-as-a-failure last president's brother?

Put another way, Trump isn't out front because he's better, it's because the others are so much worse. As for vanquishing the Trump media bullying monster, Chuck, have you considered bullying him back by giving those so much "stronger" candidates equal time -- especially if you're taking their campaign ad money?

Republicans court the racists, bigots and misogynists 3 out of four years and then suddenly, in a Pres election year, they try to pretend to be moderate and reasonable. Trump is simply appealing to the monster they created, the monster they feed and placate when it suits them.

Reap what you have sown, motherfuckers.

Well, guess I am done. No wait a min, Rachel, Lawrence and Chris, how long can they possibly last with Chuckie in charge?

Didn't chuckie get his start reporting on c-span for 'The Hill" or something? Am I confused?

Oh and by the way Chuckie, you own "The Donald"!!

21. Trump May Have Sucked All The Oxygen Out Of The Repug Room But.....
Wed Aug 5, 2015, 01:38 AM
Aug 2015

the Repugs have sucked all the oxygen out of the Dem's room. Right now Trump is getting all the press of all the Repugs - but the Repug candidates - as a group - are getting more press than the Dem candidates.

Also - here's my dream end of the Trump's candidacy.

I would like to have Trump say:

"I had no intention of ever going the distance to get the Repug nomination for President.

I'm not a politician - I'm a businessman. Why would I want to be President. I make more money than a President anyway and I only jumped in this race to prove how corrupted our system of electing a President is. I'm rich so I don't have to beg for money and sell out my principles and be beholden to billionaire benefactors. Money has corrupted the system. Hell I can buy a President just like the Koch's are doing if I wanted to. Why would I want the headaches of being a President. If I bought him/her I can just tell him/her what I want him/her to do. I'd own them.

And I purposely said outrageous things - because as a showman - I know that this is what gets coverage. These 15 other candidates for the Repug nomination are all vying to say the most ridiculous things in order to get attention. So bottom line what we have is a candidate that says the most outrageous things that has amassed a huge sum of money from billionaires that they are beholden to that gets elected President. It is not the person that really cares about this country. My outrageous statements only spawned even more outrageous statements from the other candidates to out outrageous me. Really people - is this how we should elect a President?

So again - I purposely took this primary to its limits to illustrate just how corrupt we've come in this country to elect someone to lead it.

The media plays right into this scenario - because they are only in it to make money as well. All that money from those rich benefactors - goes to producing and running contrived campaign commercials that are full of half truths and lies and out of context sound bytes in order to manipulate The People into voting for a contrived candidate. So it is in the best interest of the media to have many candidates running - because there is more money to be made running these contrived campaign ads. Actually - the media is making fools of us rich guys - because they are taking us to the cleaners and we are obliging them.

Yes - I've taken this to its most silly place to illustrate those points. Bottom line - what I really want to do is make a statement that money should be taken out of politics. Elections should be publically funded to be fair to all the candidates.

Debates should really be debates - not a collection of sound bytes to be used in future contrived campaign ads. We should really debate the issues and not just grab for attention and pose for a beauty contest.

So people don't criticize me. I'm just being a patriot here and U did this for you - so that we can work together to change this corrupted system. I did a good job didn't I.

And bottom line you know - I would have won the Presidency if I stayed in this to the end. Because I am the Donald."

That is how I'd like to see the Donald go out. If he would do this he would be doing a great service to this country and maybe - just maybe - The People would wake up and see how manipulated we've become.
