Billionaires fight for the presidency
From the Guardian
Trump, already one of the best known and least experienced names in the 2016 race, also appeared to win the battle to win yet more public attention: appearing top in a ranking of internet search terms during the debate that was released by Google.
Trump won the debate

(1,980 posts)He walked away with minimal bruising and I'd say only Walker, Kasich, and Carson gained anything from that debate. For Trump, that's clearly a win. For the rest of them, they really didn't get squat. Huckabee probably killed his 1 in a million shot when he called for social insurance taxes on capital gains. Rand Paul and Christie got nailed well by Trump, which will probably be more remembered than any blathering they did. It was somewhat entertaining, but the real fun will come when desperation fully sets in for them. Then it's going to be a real hoot.
When I say Trump did well, I mean that he didn't screw up much and mostly got away from whatever was thrown at him. He had a real shot to undermine virtually the whole stage when he was talking about buying politicians, but he got sidetracked and the moment was lost. I don't know if he can win that nomination, but I don't think anyone should consider him a gimmick anymore.

(19,362 posts)but Trump .....Trumped the Republican Party with his threat to run as Independant ....like Perot
He will give it to the Democrats before Bush and Walker gets it
It's amazing stuff
I think they'd be quite comfortable with Walker or Kasich, but the preference is likely for Bush.
I could see him running as an independent. I wonder if he's using that threat to keep them from hitting too hard.
Trump is not the complete liability that everyone assumes. He's got a lot of experience in the public eye, he's essentially immune to opposition research (there's very few things out there that aren't known that could hurt him), and he's got a good sense of timing in public speaking. Combined with his never-ending self-promotion, and the fact everybody knows his name, I think his chance is way better than anybody first imagined. I wouldn't write off his ability to win that nomination and effectively challenge for the office. Right now, I really don't think he has a chance to win, but that could change if he holds position (near the top, doesn't have to be first) AND builds an effective organization to win votes. Do those two things and there's no reason he couldn't be on a ballot in 15 months. It's a scary prospect, but I think it's a possibility.

of losing wars economic and military
He'll tear the party up if he has too before Bush gets in there
