I don't know any. If I met one I'd try and stay away from them. Seriously. The guy is litigious, lacks substance. He seems smart and he's totally making fun of Fox News and other republicans. But I think he's really dangerous. I think he may get the republican nomination. The other candidates look like wax figures compared to him.

Oh, I think now I know what I'd ask someone if they said that to me:

What is his plan for jobs?

I might also tell him that cutting taxes on the rich does not create jobs. Trickle-down theory is totally discredited by every economist and rational or intelligent person.

She was pissed that her vet son can't get an appointment at the VA, but that, according
to Trump, "illegals are getting free health care".

I took each issue on--including the fact that the Republicans killed the VA bill that Bernie sponsored
a year or so ago--supported by all the military organizations--that would have made a huge
difference in VA health care--along with just what is meant by 'free health care' for illegals.

She hasn't responded to my post. Damn those facts!

I work with an elderly black man (janitor) and a 40-something Hispanic guy (health-care administration) who like Trump because of the "illegal immigrant" factor. The Hispanic guy cites the "damaging unskilled labor" pouring into the country. A 50-something white woman (also health-care administration) loves Trump, too. Immigrants and not being afraid to speak his mind, evidently. Working at a hospital and seeing so many uninsured and unemployed on Medicaid has to be shaping their opinions. They all like Jeb, too. Seems he "looks presidential," and I asked how so. No reply. No one could articulate what "looks presidential" even means, but nodded in agreement and chuckled when I suggested he can wear a suit fairly well. One minute they're talking of low wages at the hospital, and the next they're praising Scott Walker. It's mind-boggling.

but from the Hispanic guy. He LOVES Rubio. But he's also a Floridian who believes in science, in climate change. The disconnect is unreal. He also likes Sanders' message on jobs, the economy, healthcare, and quality of life. He's educated and well-travelled, and knows how it is in other first-world nations.

I wonder if there are people prefer Trump over Bernie because of the rudeness factor?

People are still angry about 2008 and maybe they want someone who is going to reflect that anger in the ugliest way possible?

And yes it is going to be a long 15 months. I am not looking forward to a year full of negativity and outrageous rhetoric.

let alone listen to what comes out of that oddly-shaped mouth of his. The biggies for my aforementioned coworkers seem to be his anti-immigration message, and the number of unmarried, unemployed women on Medicaid cranking out babies. They don't care about Trump's silver spoon. I mention the bankruptcies, they tune it out.

Angry about 2008 in what way? I'm hearing anger about the economy (low wages and prohibitively expensive housing and college tuition) and fear about never being able to retire. The Hispanic guy embraces Bernie's economic message, but the others attack SOSHULISM!11! without getting beyond that one word -- "socialism."

N2doc posted this in Good Reads, and I'm going to share it far and wide:

Why Your Rent Is So High and Your Pay Is So Low

Won't matter though... all of them LOVE Reagan. They hate Hillary. I might be able to get through to some of them on Bernie if I work hard enough at it.

I read an article that supports your assessment.

It's Not Who He Is, It's Who He Hates
http://www.salon.com/2015/07/25/its_not_who_he_is_its_who_he_hates_the_secret_to_donald_trumps_toxic_appeal/

By angry about 2008, I mean some are still angry about anything in their life that they perceive as related to the meltdown. They don't blame Bush or the wealthy people who profited. They just wish they were one of them, and I think many believe they were just rewarded for patriotically living the American dream. I think there is also some kind of underlying belief that supporting the people who serve as advocates and enablers of the 1% will bring them somehow closer to them by opening mythical opportunities for them and by having favors somehow returned.

The republicans have succeeded in getting a ridiculous number of people to blame the stimulus, immigrants and the mostly fictional women you mentioned. And, of course there is also the way characteristics of president Obama were tapped into the long standing white supremacy and more recently developed anti- Muslim hate.

I guess I can kind of sympathize with her some as she basically says "Bush lied for 8 years and Obama has done "what" for regular folks in 7"....can't argue with that,

I mean I will be voting for Sanders for this same reason.

I am pretty much fed up with it all, this establishment life long political bullshit has got to end, not a single one of them has ever had to earn a living in their life, Hillary is the worst little snot nosed brat of them all.

Well, one and a half: A co-worker and my father. Both live in a RW bubble.

The former really believes in what he says and actually believes he can govern consistent with everything he says.

The latter deep down likes and agrees with much of what he says but thinks he's too impolitic to win a general election.

Ok ... 10 at least. No really I know at least 10 people that love the Donald. I probably know more its just for sure I know these 10 love the dude. Its all they talk about. And they all say the same thing; "He this saying the truth that everyone is afraid to say in public." They all love how he says it too. These 10 are mostly old, very conservative, white, and watch fuax news 24/7. But on gender its actually pretty evenly split, 6 guys, 4 women.

I just smile when they talk politics, and try to get out of the room before I say anything. Every now and then I take part, and it usually ends badly. Just say Obama, Hillary, Gore, Clinton, Iran, Unions, Gays and their heads explode. Say anything nice about said list and they go nuclear. They weren't pleased about my Carson question. I asked them, "since I didn't watch the clown show, did Dr Ben say when he was marrying that horse at the debates and if so did he have a picture?" First they looked dumb founded like what is she talking about. Then As I explained and they remembered that comment the good brain doctor had said, I quickly vacated the room. Thank God they are old cause when I saw them 10 minutes later they had done forgot about it.

They're all working class sorts who have noticed their lives seem to keep getting harder, no matter which party is office. Several are pretty racist as well, and think 'their country is being taken away from them'. They consider mainstream Republican politicians con men (or closet liberals, believe it or not), and just don't trust any of it anymore.

Their support for Trump is basically a vote of no confidence in the political system.

Was one a lady told me yesterday with a straight face. Thinks the media is lying about the corporate bankruptcies. Claims that we'd have been better off with Romney, who was inarguably a self-made man."

I gently corrected her on the facts, and then mentioned that the purpose of government is not to turn a profit: it's to provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare, and then told her -- a school librarian -- that electing a businessman as president makes as much sense as hiring a business person to be a school principal: besides the words "budget" and "employees" the jobs aren't similar.
