Grizzly bear kills hiker in Yellowstone national park

Associated Press
Sunday 9 August 2015 01.55 BST

A man has been killed by a grizzly bear in Yellowstone national park, according to the US national parks service.

The Montana man’s body was found on Friday afternoon in a popular off-trail area near Lake Village.

The victim’s name has not been revealed.

Authorities were not releasing an official cause of death until after an autopsy and other investigations.

Based on tracks found at the scene and other evidence it appeared that an adult female grizzly and at least one cub were likely involved, authorities said.

What happens to the cub? What a fucking stupid policy for killing an apex predator for being an apex predator....

It's not like grizzlies lose their fear of humans after they attack one. I don't think they had this fear to begin with.

What is needed is to educate hikers on how to avoid grizzly bears, particularly moms with cubs.

I'd like to hear the explanation behind this policy. If it makes sense, OK. If it doesn't, lets find something different.
