The embedded player is the culprit. A re-evaluation of available players is in order.
I used the FireFox Developer tools to trace my session. It's the player. My FiOS is 75/75.
The embedded player is taking upwards of 15-29 seconds to load at certain times.

The one at Crooks & Liars is a fantastic player, but this one delays on certain systems.


I was going to start a fundraiser campaign but I didn't want to insult the site operators.

It's heavy campaign time, Daily Kos is getting hammered and fundraising for an upgrade.
The Wonkette just fundraised for an upgrade. They got around $14K in 2 hours.
