Mark Zuckerburg Ties The Knot

Today, one of the richest men in America is becomes a married man

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his status to “married” on Saturday.

Zuckerberg and 27-year-old Priscilla Chan tied the knot at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, Calif., home, capping a busy week for the couple, according to a guest authorized to speak for the couple. The person spoke only on the condition of anonymity.

Zuckerberg took his company public in one of the most anticipated stock offerings in Wall Street history Friday. And Chan graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on Monday, the same day Zuckerberg turned 28, the person said.

The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years, the person said.

Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring “a very simple ruby,” according to the person who gave the following characterization of the wedding.

The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s backyard before fewer than 100 guests, who all thought they were there to celebrate Chan’s graduation.

Even after the IPO, Zuckerberg remains Facebook’s single largest shareholder, with 503.6 million shares. And he controls the company with 56 percent of its voting stock.

The site, which was born in a dorm room eight years ago, has grown into a worldwide network of almost a billion people.

Zuckerberg founded Facebook at Harvard in 2004.

He was named as Time’s Person of the Year in 2010, at age 26

He must be in bliss knowing that he made billions and billions of dollars and is now married. If I were Mark Zuckerburg, he should have a gotten a prenuptial agreement with all of the assets that he has.

even if they divorce and she gets half it's not like he will be poor. he would be able to live the same lifestyle.

5. That assumes she's going to divorce him to take half of his wealth.

Because we all know women are wired to do that.

I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking the notion that we should IMMEDIATELY start out with "... but did he get a pre-nup?"

4. A prenup? Why? So if they get divorced, he can send her packing with nothing?

I'm not willing to assume right off that she just married him for the money. That would assume that women are guilty of being gold diggers before they're proven innocent. As a man I wouldn't want that presumed guilt thrown back at me. Call it enlightened self-interest.

of what the spouse will get in the event of divorce. She (or he) will end up with nothing only if she (or he) agrees to that in a prenup, which most people would not do. And if the law provides that she (or he) is legally entitled to certain things, a prenup, I believe, cannot waive those rights (as in the case of community property).

It's just a smart thing to do, since people can get crazy when going through a divorce. Best to have it all set up, when everyone is in their right mind, calm, and still care for the other person.

If they get divorced, she will walk away well taken care of financially.

Honestly, I hope they have many happy years together. They're certainly committed to each other after 9 years together. I love that they chose a simple wedding with close friends and family instead of a big blowout. She looked beautiful and very classy.

Best wishes for many happy years together

Even if there was a prenup, a good lawyer could argue that they were essentially a married couple before the ceremony, and she's entitled to a large chunk should they divorce.

As for Donald Trump's advice -- gag!. He really knows how to start off a marriage on the wrong foot.

They've been dating since they were sophmores at Harvard. She knew him well before he was rich, and before Facebook was a household name. And, add to that she's a Harvard Graduate herself with a Doctorate.. it's not like this lady is marrying him for his "money".

It's actually nice to see a couple of college sweethearts make it 9 years and get married.. I wish them both the best of luck!
