What media was she using? The soft gradations look like airbrushing, or possibly watercolor or pastel.

and I say that as an artist myself in all sincerity.

I painted something when I was eleven that garnered many positive comments. Living in Mexico where the Day of The Dead is celebrated my painting was of two skeletons dancing and having a great time under the moon. Maybe it was the innocence that moved people. It was quite spontaneous. I never gave it a thought except that in Mexico the Day of The Dead seems to be a festive time to me.
