Lawsuit filed against City of Danville for removing Confederate flag (VA)

... Heritage Preservation Association, Danville Confederate Memorial Association, Inc., Pittsylvania Vindicators Camp No. 828, Sons of Confederate Veterans, R. Wayne Byrd, Sr., Helen Harris, Frank Harvey and Tony L. Lundy filed the lawsuit on Friday.
The lawsuit claims the city entered into an agreement with Heritage Preservation Association in September of 1994.
The lawsuit claims the removal of the flag breached the contract Heritage Preservation Association had with the city by not consulting them before adopting an ordinance. The ordinance recently adopted by Danville only allows the United States flag, Commonwealth of Virginia flag, the flag of the City of Danville and the POW/MIA flag to be flown on city owned flagpoles.
The lawsuit also claims the city damaged the flag pole when removing the Confederate flag, making it unusable unless repaired ...
