SANDESTIN ... Dale Landry, president of the Tallahassee Branch of the NAACP, said they planned to make statements, not protest, on a public sidewalk along Highway 98 outside the gates of Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa.
The group, roughly a dozen, opposes the Confederate stars and bars flag flying at the Walton County Courthouse in DeFuniak Springs, 35 miles north of Sandestin.
Instead of delivering prepared remarks, Landry said the group was forced to scrap their plans. NAACP members, who traveled from Bay, Gadsden, Columbia and Okaloosa counties, were told their cars would be towed if they parked in the Market Shops at Sandestin parking lot.
I am surprised, but Im not surprised. But Im surprised that it happened in South Walton, Landry said. We were ready for this in DeFuniak Springs, but I was totally not ready for this in South Walton ...

(7,107 posts)The resorts are extremely tight with their parking and using their lots will get you towed quickly.
The Market Shops are not public property but belong to the resort and that is fair warning for anyone & everyone.
I, frankly, don't go near the area until October.
