In a series of profanity-laced screeds, Trump supporters called Erickson, among other things, a "moron," a "despicable slob" and a "loser."

Erickson, himself known for misogynistic and incendiary language, used the emails to call for conservatives to "recalibrate" and to strive towards being "happy warriors." If this is the anger that flows out of Trump supporters, I do not think it is sustainable. Yet it comes daily. It is poisonous to debate, to democracy, and to the soul itself," he wrote.

He encouraged conservatives to "rise to to the occasion," and "not descend into a hell of rage," citing emails like these:
