Trump says he'd be a smarter president than his competitors

HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — In a speech light on policy details but heavy on flair, Donald Trump told a raucous New Hampshire crowd Friday that he'd make a smarter president than any of his competitors when it comes to the economy, the military and everything else.

"We will make great trade deals, we will save Social Security without cuts, we will come up with health care plans that will be phenomenal — phenomenal," Trump told a packed high school auditorium.

Trump's trip to the first primary state comes as he continues to hold a commanding lead in the Republican presidential primary, despite a spat with Fox News personality Megyn Kelly, staff shakeups and continued criticism over his comments about Mexican immigrants. Although he speaks without a script, Trump's talking points here echoed those he's made on the campaign trail for months, namely touting his skills as a negotiator.

The crowd ate it up.

"He's a breath of fresh air that's deviating from the traditional political talk and focusing on things that I think many Americans want to hear," said Stephen Boeddinghaus, who attended the rally with his wife. "We've been to several political rallies through the years and never — never — have we seen enthusiasm as displayed here tonight."

35 years as a legal secretary will do that for you.

But as to T Rump, the "skills" needed to inherit a shitload of money, have your casinos go bankrupt, and be an international laughingstock (ask the Scots) aren't really something we need in the Oval Office. The problem is that nitwits think that governing is something easy. It requires a lot of attention to detail, working well with others, and working in the best interests even of people who didn't vote for you. Explains a lot about the Republican-dominated Congress, which doesn't possess any of these skills.

We used to call elected officials public servants, but we don't do that anymore. Politics and governance have become tickets to wealth, not a way to serve. T Rump is long on rhetoric, but notably short on details. Like what will be "phenomenal" about T Rump's health care plan? How will he "save" Social Security, and what, exactly, does that mean?

Anyone have a few more questions Chuck Todd won't ask T Rump on Meet the Press?

It's like to lowest common denominator of conservative Americans. That was not by accident. It was definitely on purpose.

being a graduate of Junior ROTC.

By the way.......his high school alma mata, New York Military Academy, is in serious, no make that dire, financial straights. They may close. Has Trump, with all his billions, offered to help the school out with a measly 7 - 10 mil? My guess is no.

Or more likely, he offered with a ton of conditions and they said no.

Donald Trump IS smarter than the other thousand people running for the GOP nomination. Of course, a box of rocks is smarter than Donald T. Rump, so that's not saying much.
