Arkansas state senator who 'rehomed' his daughters is getting a 'courage' award at a Ted Cruz event

It's hard to forget Arkansas Rep. Justin Harris. He and his wife gave away two girls they'd adopted to a man who went on to rape the six-year-old daughter. The story took on several bizarre twists as reports surfaced that Harris and his wife performed exorcisms on the girls before they gave them away, claiming the three-year-old and six-year-old girls were possessed by demons.

Disgusting, right? Well, not to the Family Council Action Committee, which is presenting an award to Harris at an event headlined by creepy Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz. From the Arkansas Times:

The Family Council Action Committee will today present its first annual "Power of Courage" awards to two Arkansas state legislators, Rep. Charlene Fite (R-Van Buren) and Rep. Justin Harris (R-West Fork).

The group's press release say Fite and Harris "demonstrated courage by standing strong in faith when situations were tough at the State Capitol and they did so with grace. They are consistently models of their Christian values in their homes, their communities, and their churches." It commends the two lawmakers for their work on legislation regarding abortion.

Those two children deserve the courage award.
I hope their safe and being helped after such horrific experiences.
I couldn't stand Ted Cruz before this, my feelings were appropriate!

My two nieces were adopted from China. The younger girl is on the spectrum and has emotional issues. My sister and BIL have worked HARD to get both girls the help they need.

This fool, and his ignorant wife, who used religious ignorance instead of psychological help then gave those babies to a child molester should never see the outside of a prison cell. And if he were an average person who wasn't part of the religious right he might well suffer some consequences.

A lot of times these religious freaks adopt kids "for God", and that ends so often in misery for the kids.
