Washington Post: FAA problems causes ‘flypocalypse’ at D.C., New York airports

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/ronald-reagan-national-and-other-northeast-airports-experiencing-flight-delays/2015/08/15/b5dac03a-4363-11e5-846d-02792f854297_story.html

-snip-

A problem with a next-generation air traffic control system resulted in hours-long flight delays Saturday at airports in Washington and New York, leaving travelers stuck in planes on taxiways or jammed into crowded terminals as they scrambled to make alternate plans.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was “diagnosing an automation problem at an air traffic center in Leesburg, Va.” The delays at D.C.’s Reagan National Airport were due to an “automation issue” with the new ERAM flight control system, which is being rolled out nationwide.

I posted an article in LBN about the same thing but with a less colorful title.
