Who keeps saying she is a Republican. I am slowing, issue by issue, convincing her that she is a Democrat.
It's a long careful process, but it is happening.

I don't know who or what convinced her to be the rep for her local but she is good at defending employees and standing up against management.

This is called cognitive dissonance.

That woman has no idea what unionizing is about. It is 101 years since Ludlow which was a major point of the union movement. My grandfathers had to go into hiding as Rockefeller's thugs were hunting them. Maybe you should show her some history of what being in a union means.

We had a shop steward who was a Republican, and once I took him aside from the crowd & whispered --Don't say that, man! Don't you know Republican means Management?" His eyes widened & he scurried off, presumably to change his affiliation.

Of those, most gloss over economic issues and/or say that corporatist democrats are the same and vote mainly on social issues. These are either/and fundamentalist christians or hyper-nationalistic gun nuts.

The others ( just a couple or three ) are just Ayn Randian selfish pricks. They really think all other working class types ( other than themselves ) are overpaid and that their own income will go further if everyone else worked for less. They see no irony whatever in being union members themselves while showing no solidarity for other working class members: They simply see it as making the best situation for themselves. They show solidarity only when it's in their immediate interest.

The former group is just low-info and stupid. The latter group is full of malice. I've had arguments with the latter to where I wanted to literally beat the living shit out of them.

that things could be turned around.. Bernie Sanders... Hillary though very imperfect, already has acquired some union support.. But Republicans want Unions completely dismantled.. The worst democrat is 10 times better than the best republican when talking about Unions and fair wages.. So Union Guys wake the fuck up..
