I believe that the Democratic party will implode, and regardless who wins the Presidential election, the Democrats will lose the majority in the Senate, and thus both houses will be controlled by the republicans, and we can kiss the SC and other judicial appointments goodbye
This is an Iraq redux all over again, and the most astounding thing is the ignorance or political games that is being played in the Senate by many of the usual suspects

(10,650 posts)We already lost the Senate in 2014. I just am not following you line of thought here.

(92,192 posts)Democrats have a good chance to retake back the Senate.
I probably messed up my thought process in the OP, but that is what I meant.

(13,190 posts)The bottom line is if the Senate democrats don't give the President the veto power on this deal and the republicans start there war talk the African American community will not vote for anyone who voted.against this deal.AL Sharpton in fact next week will be telling all his listeners on radio to call there Senators and Congressmen to support this deal.Melendez is already history in NJ. One because of his indictment and the fact he comes from my state which is pretty blue.I think the Feds most likely got the goods on him he's been under investigation for quite some time.

but Democrats lost their majority in the Senate in 2014. Both Houses are controlled by Republicans.

It will be impossible to override a veto. Furthermore, your prediction about the future of the Senate is wrong. The GOP has, at most, three more years of a Senate majority, and perhaps only one year. The GOP won't be winning any elections outside the House with its gerrymandered districts. Their base is becoming too small.

(6,342 posts)Yet right now they hold more seats in Congress than anytime since after WWII.
Maybe we need to stop believing that fairy tale because it's making our party lazy. You really want to just wait 20 years and hope that the demographics favor us?
I'd love to know what numbers your crystal ball has for the lottery....
