Dad Nominates Julian Bond for Vice President at the 1968 Democratic Convention

Beth Warshafsky

This is a short clip from the 1968 convention when my father nominated Julian Bond for Vice President from the floor of the Democratic Convention. It was a symbolic nomination, Julian Bond was too young to be Vice President, but it effectively refocused the televised convention back to the issues that brought people like Bond and my father and others to the national stage. The Wisconsin Delegation marched in support of the students and protestors who were being beaten in the streets.
