Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Mothers breastfed their children in protest at Victoria's Secret in Downtown Summerlin Saturday.
This was after Farah Soomro said she was asked to leave the store earlier this month because she was breastfeeding her 4-month-old son.
There were about 100 people who walked in to the Victoria's Secret as part of a nurse-in inside the store to send a message that mothers have the right to breastfeed in public.
Victoria's Secret has since released a statement saying that they "have a longstanding policy welcoming mothers to nurse their children in our stores and we are sorry that there was a misunderstanding in this case. We have apologized to Ms. Soomro, and we are taking steps to ensure all associates understand our policy that supports breastfeeding mothers.

(115,693 posts)1. You'd think that a business whose very existence depends on breasts
would be a little more sympathetic to someone who puts them to their intended use.

(23,340 posts)9. Victoria's Secret's statement is much more sympathetic ...
... pretty much saying the associate at the Las Vegas store was out of line, and more "education" is forthcoming.
I hope their statement was sincere.

(114,904 posts)10. huh? it was one store and the statement by headquarters
makes it abundantly clear that they have a pro- breastfeeding policy.

(115,693 posts)12. My (jocular) remarks were directed at the offending store,
and I'm glad the corporation itself has a more enlightened attitude. Considering it's all about breasts, after all. Maybe they should do more to train their sales people, at least one of whom seems to have no sense of irony.

Yes, they are ok as sex objects, but forbidden to do the job they were intended for.

I hope it is repeated as often as needed in other places.
