Liberal Fox Guest Blows Her Top After Bush Aide Blames Iraq On Hillary Clinton: 'This Spin Is Insane'

A liberal guest shouted down former George W. Bush spokesperson Mercedes Schlapp on Sunday after she tried to claim that Jeb Bush would not have trouble defending the Iraq war because Democrats voted for it knowing the intelligence was faulty.

During a discussion on Fox & Friends, Accountability Project Executive Director Nomiki Konst said that Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush was trying to "reinvent history" of the Iraq war.

"He seems to ignore the fact that we got into Iraq because of his brother," Konst explained.

Schlapp, however, argued that the current problems in Iraq were President Barack Obama's fault because he had not negotiated a deal to leave U.S. troops in the country after George W. Bush left office.

"Tell that to the families whose sons and daughters have died in the war!" Konst interrupted. "You tell that to their families. Do you think that they want to hear that, that they wanted to stay in an endless war?"

"Why did you go to Iraq?" Konst continued. "Tell the American people that. As a member of the former George W. Bush administration, why did you go to Iraq?"

"As we all know, it was a bipartisan effort that basically said we were going to go into this war, we know that there was faulty intelligence that was associated with it," Schlapp replied. "Secretary Clinton, when she was senator, actually voted for the Iraq war."

"The spin here is incredible!" Konst gasped. "Are you listening to yourself? This spin is insane."

"Stop screaming," Schlapp advised.

"I'm sorry but it's very personal to me, when my friends had to go to the Iraqi war and people died!" Konst shouted back. "And that faulty intelligence was created by the Bush administration."

"It's very personal for all of us," Schlapp agreed.

At which point, Ms. Schlapp pulled out a copy of her stock portfolio. "How much more personal can you get? My good friends and I made a killing off the Iraq war! Well, not a 'killing' but you know what I mean."

Can you imagine how much money Dick Cheney might have lost in deferred compensation if Halliburton hadn't gotten those sweet defense contracts for work in Iraq (and please don't bring up the soldiers electrocuted by faulty wiring) and gone bankrupt? Very personal, indeed!

It is also wrong to imply that the Bush administration wasn't the author.

People like to talk about "entitlement" and "privilege?" Here it is. The Bush administration actively lied about Iraq, made up stories and leaked them to the press, then quoted the press reports as evidence. Interfered with CIA reports. Continued citing evidence OUR PEOPLE had discredited for months.

And their spin is that because they lied, tricked, and strong-armed various others to go along, we are all equally culpable.

Their argument is literally that the lying doesn't count BECAUSE THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT.

I always thought it was for political survival. In the post-911 world, anyone who was against going to war would take the risk of being branded "un-American" and not protecting the "homeland."

The war was a sham from start to finish.

To claim that the authorization vote was over faulty intel is just silly. It was calculated political survival. Period.
