Bashir asks Joe Barton-R, TX (natch) if he supports Meals on Wheels (photo op) while voting to cut

it:

http://theangriestliberal.com/2012/05/08/joe-barton-recipients-of-meals-on-wheels-should-be-looking-for-work/

"Joe Barton, he sticks to Republican talking points even when it doesn’t make sense! Today in daily Republican speak Joe Barton insists that people who benefit from Food Stamps and Meals on Wheels should go to work, (scroll up to the 5:20 point) that is the goal of Republicans to put everyone to work. Bashir reminds Barton who are the recipients of Meals on Wheels, Joe Barton looks like a complete ass."

PS- As Bashir confronts Barton on his BS, Barton's face grows

2. 8:05 shows how empty their knowledge of the bible is that they love to use for justification

Reminds me of a friend who loves to preach morals using the bible, but when I ask for details, she's tripping over herself. She didn't really know the bible she supposedly lived her life by. She memorized some talking points she heard in church.

until one of the people that are doing the interview when the politician answers the question by beating around the bush and not giving a straight answer. Stops them and makes them give a straight yes or no answer to the question.

recipients of Meals on Wheels are the elderly and the handicapped, neither of which can work. So, are the Rethugs saying they should just starve to death because they are a drain on society? What if one of them was the parent of a Rethug? Would they starve their own parent? Sure seems like it.

9. He tried to back peddle at first when Bashir pointed out that getting a job

to get prosperous didn't make sense of 80 and 90 year olds. Congressman first back peddles - and then astonishingly - doubles down. Not on the "get a job" but that cuts have to be made (then he tried to claim that the cuts would be too small to effect services) - in order for the economy to improve and in order not to dump all of this debt on future generations (which was never a concern when W was in office.)

I am appalled.
