"where the hell is obama and the dnc?"

Seriously, all the protests, the 99%, the case against Scott Walker...why the hell is anyone even contemplating a vote for this idiot?

People around the country, even in other countries, know about this recall election. It's one of the most prominent elections ever.

Barrett can pull this out, but it requires that people actually vote, and not do so against their interest: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002685459

It's pro-labor, pro-workers rights voters in Wisconsin against Walker. That's a HUGE difference IMHO.

So low that, a sitting, uber popular Senator was defeated.

Let's be honest. Democrats sat on their ass and rightwingers went to the polls in 2010. Simple fact.

It pisses me off that Democrats seem to be so friggin lazy when it comes to voting. They only believe voting in presidential elections will make everything aaaaall right again.

Democrats, Progressives, and Liberals need to vote in every primary, every mid-term and every presidential election. Because that's what Republicans do.

and he confided that he has taken the week of November off, registered his 18-year-old daughter, and will be driving his parents-in-law, parents, wife, himself and his daughter to the polls to vote for Grover's boy, Meh Romney. That's how fanatical they are. This is how fanatical we should be, too, and then we'll put Republicans out of power in no time.

workers are in a union, maybe 10%? I would guess the majority of those are in public sector unions. The unions in the private sector have been taking a beating for the last 30 years. I worked in the steel industry and we started with the concessions way back in the late 70s. In the mean time public sector unions have been unscathed until recently. So I think a lot of your private sector union members now see a lot of public employees making better wages then them and retiring with great benefits and pensions. Well put yourself in their shoes private sector unions members are making less money and many have lost their pensions and health insurance. They see the public workers doing better than they are and they see their taxes going up an up every year so therefore you see 39% of union workers voting for Walker. Then you have the other 90% that don't even have a union and I can see how Walker could possibly win after all. Like Walker said "divide an conquer".

The wealthy not only manage the financial, industrial, retail. communications (TV and radio) and healthcare sectors of the economy, but they manage the charitable giving sector too. That means that wealthy people manage the non-profits, sometimes directly through board memberships, and sometimes indirectly through "gifts" and foundation grants and endowments.

Of course, they have neatly tied up their control and ownership of the government too.

Basically, our entire culture, our entire nation is pretty much run by the rich for the rich.

The only exception is the internet, maybe. And if you are really, really poor, and not just formerly middle-class now impoverished, you can't afford a computer or internet access, so you are pretty much reduced to no social power at all.
And if you want to volunteer for some great sounding cause, you will probably be asked to give a donation or buy tickets for something and your status with the organization for which you are volunteering will be determined by how much money, not how much time you give. There are exceptions, but you are lucky if you can find them.

I am cynical about charitable giving and non-profits as you can tell.

We really have to change this, and the only way I know to do it is to raise the marginal tax rate on the wealthy and fund a lot more of the charitable projects with that tax money.

For those of you who think that Occupy is purposeless and that the Occupiers should be working through the established political process, please keep what I have said in mind.

I am speaking from experience. This is not a conspiracy theory or conjecture.

So, if Walker wins, it will be because he has the power of the wealthy behind him, and they run things. Democratic or Republican, makes no difference, we are beholden to the wealthy. Our society has reached a point at which no one matters unless they have money.

doing those things, then it is "Democrats" like YOU in YOUR state that allowed it to happen. However, Walker ceilings at fifty percent. The Dem can keep moving up IF they can get enough of those did not vote in 2010 to get their butts to the polls. So enough of listening to the poll reports and corporate media spin, and get the hell out there and WORK.
