California artist and filmmaker Alexandra Grant shoots footage for a documentary she is shooting that will tell the story of an 1880 headstone that was stolen from a Nebraska cemetery and missing for decades. Grant found the headstone in a Wyoming antiques store, bought it, and eventually became compelled to reunite the marker with the baby it memorialized.

In the beginning were the words.
Alexandra Grant stood in an antiques store in Buffalo, Wyoming, staring at the headstone of a baby girl named Lena Davis, 8 months, 5 days old.
Died July 19, 1880, read the inscription.
It was Grants third trip to the antiques store. Something about the headstone kept luring her back. At first she thought it was the aesthetic. Grant, a Los Angeles-based artist whose work often involves language, admired the design and text on the piece. She liked the look of the words.
