his household contains a Latina (per a JEB surrogate on the Rev. Al Show)?
Come on, mannn!

(145,530 posts)It is the equivalent of "wetback" among Hispanic voters. Jeb's comments will be used if he is the nominee. Jeb is already somewhat weak in polling with Hispanic voters compared to Hillary Clinton http://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/poll-hillary-clinton-hispanic-voters-2016-120223.html

(145,530 posts)California used to be a reddish/purple state before Pete Wilson ran for re-election on a platform of hatred for Hispanic voters. Wilson won but the state started trending blue after that and now the California GOP is almost dead. We are trying to motivate hispanic voters and there has been some fun polling.

(145,530 posts)If Jeb is the nominee, we may have a harder time because he speaks spanish and is more moderate on immigration. Still, the anchor baby comments and other comments will be used against Jeb. You will notice that Hillary is going after Jeb and ignoring Trump for the most part because the party would prefer to not have Jeb as the nominee.
If Trump or Walker was the nominee, Texas may be in play if Hillary has Julian Castro as her VP. The Texas voter id law had a greater impact that we first thought in the 2014 election. A study by Rice University and the James Baker Institute found that voter id suppressed between 5.8% and 12.8% of registered voters which meant that Texas would have been competitive in 2014.
It could be interesting. Your friend on the DNC's comments are based on some truth.

(31,849 posts)That's exactly what she has been saying. And if HRC is the nominee, I have little doubt that her running mate will be Castro.

(145,530 posts)The 2016 Texas state Democratic convention is in San Antonio and is chaired by Julian's brother. If Julian Castro will be at that convention and there are rumors that Hillary Clinton will be there also. It should be a blast

When dealing with the teaparty this is actually what you have to do, you have to say stupid things and say them with passion.
