VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- He's the great-great grandson of a civil war soldier who fought for the South. And B. Frank Earnest Sr. of Virginia Beach likes his current license plate just the way it is.
What the retired electrician doesn't like is the newly re-designed Sons of Confederate Veterans plate, which lacks the battle flag of Northern Virginia, his organization's logo.
"It's a specialty plate, so I'm assuming they're going to want $10 or $20 or more per year," he said. "I'm not paying it. I don't want it. If you told any other organization you can have your plate but you can't have your patented emblem, I don't think they'd want it either. Why would you?"
Earnest, who is a past Virginia Division Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, said he doubts the new plate will be very popular with his fellow SCV members ...
