Lastly, I want to be clear that while I still honor this city council for doing what they can in this instance, we must ensure that we have people in power who can do much more than this. We need progressive prosecutors, district attorneys, police, governors, legislators, and more to be able to properly address systemic racial injustice.

Last I saw it was ruled a suicide, the story kind of vanished after that.

I find it interesting, however, that they named a road after her. I've seen lots of jail suicides over the years, and not one besides this one got a road named for him. It would be foolish for her to kill herself over something so trivial, but I know that trivial things can lead to serious consequences. I can't say I'm sure of what happened, but I don't think it was a suicide.
