(12,157 posts)Hitler and Mussolini were very popular with a lot of people. They tapped into the inner angst of the Italian and German people and promised to give them relief. Sadly many believed to their detriment. What is it they say about Mussolini, something about making the trains run on time.

(9,436 posts)and kicking other countries asses at the negotiaton table sounds like a strongman dictator to me. He's going to get things done because he's Trump, aka through his force of will and personality.
It's not funny anymore.

(5,810 posts)People should be recoiling in horror at the things Trump is saying and claiming. These same people who are eating it up with a spoon are the same ones crying that Obama is an out of control dictator. And yet they are embracing a guy who boldly brags about what HE is going to do to shut down the border. It's all about him and what he is going to do....conveniently forgetting or glossing over the fact that our system of governance has THREE branches. But Trump gets some of his loudest cheers and applause when he talks like a dictator.
It really is not funny any more....not that it EVER WAS, but I think many of us were naive enough to think that Trump would be laughed out of the room or that his bombast and bullying would wear very thin by now. Instead he has just exposed a very ugly side of America that we hoped had gone away or died off. Sad to say, it is alive and thriving right here in the Heartland.
