(22,000 posts)But then again, if they have morale reservations it's their choice to refuse treatment. Stupid as it maybe.

(65,408 posts)save their lives, even when those treatments develop out of stem cell research, but refuse to bake a cake if their religious prejudices are directed against LGBT people or refuse to fill a prescription for a woman who needs a contraceptive.

(4,695 posts)I, Jane Do, will decide what services and documents will be offered. I will refuse equal treatment to immoral, non-religious and ideological others, if they do not surrender to my theological faith-My Great Commission.

(20,584 posts)the moral/ideological decision is upon the patients - not the researchers. No one should be required to practice someone else's religion.

want the freedom to tell you what you must believe/do.

(2,707 posts)I think stem cell policy was by far one of W.'s worst policies. I've liked Obama on environment, but haven't heard much about stem cells.

(37,748 posts)Pres Obama overturned the Bush-era executive order that limited federal tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research in March of 2009. That same week, he also also signed a presidential memorandum establishing greater independence for federal science policies and programs.

(34,195 posts)Don't know. But I posted it 'cause it brought to my mind the recent Planned Parenthood rants by the GOP.

(4 posts)I have long thought that the same should apply to those who try to stop the use of animals in research.
As you can see, this is my first post on DU. Please go easy on me.

(13,871 posts)Was titled "Bush is trying to kill my daughter." It was meant to be provocative I guess, but it expressed my outrage that Bush's first executive order - severely limiting stem cell research - was a very real danger to my 6 year old daughter who had just been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
On a good note: I used that fact to politicize my two older children, showing them that politics is not some obscure adult thing covered on the nightly news but a very real impact on every aspect of your life, since statistics showed that Type 1s have an average lifespan 7 years less than the general population. They are both now committed liberals.
And the 6 year old? She is now in nursing school and wants to eventually become a endocrinologist, which is the branch of medicine that treats diabetes. And she is also a member of the student Democrats at college.

And in the process kill everyone.
