21 years for Marijuana - fucked up system

Time to look at all those imprisoned for this "crime"

"Freeing Jeff Mizanskey took 21 years, signatures from 391,254 petition signers, a documentary, letters from 126 Missouri lawmakers, a plea for clemency from the prosecutor and from Republican state representative Shamed Dogan, billboards, and a sustained effort by nonprofit criminal justice reform organizations like Show-Me Cannabis. Because of Missouri’s “prior and persistent drug offender” law, Mizanskey had been sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, for nonviolent marijuana charges. He gets out Tuesday morning"

Of course, i'm being sarcastic. Unfortunately, this is just but one example of a monumentally unsuccessfully, stupendously misdirected, and ridiculously expensive effort to rid society of a minor problem, which does NOT include cannabis.

The "war on drugs" is bad enough, but it's absolute hell when combined with three strikes laws and other "habitual criminal" legislation. Yes, people have been sentenced to life without parole for stealing car stereos and writing bad checks.
