See, DU? I'm being equally critical of her husband's clothes, too.
He looks like he should be out working on the farm, not facing the
cameras.

Look. I know lots of people don't give a crap about what they put on in the morning.
Some would like to dress better, but don't know what to choose. Some don't
want to admit to caring about clothes, because, somehow, it must mean they
care about superficial things.
Some religions have very strict dress codes and people choose to follow them.
Some ethnic communities have dress codes, and you follow them to indicate
membership.
I have seen nothing on the website of the Apostolic Christian Church indicating that Kim
Davis has to dress the way she does--a la Duggar.
Here is what they have to say about attire if you are coming to visit one of their churches:
What to Wear
As a visitor, you can feel free to come as you are. However, if you are concerned about standing out, then know that were a rather formal group. Most men will be wearing dark suits with white shirts and ties. Women wear dresses or skirts and blouses.

On edit: it turns out that Kim Davis belongs to Pentecostal Apostolic Church--the type that encourages 'speaking in tongues'
which is even farther out there than the Apostolic Christian Church I linked to above. They have an even more stringent dress code for women and do not encourage being part of 'the world'. This is some seriously right wing fundy stuff. The link to her particular church no longer works, but this is the group to which it belongs: http://www.apostolic-churches.com/about.html
Her church is in Morehead, KY, and the link does not work. http://www.apostolic-churches.com/pages/Morehead---Solid-Rock-Apostolic-Church-6458.html
This is what they say about dress code:

(2 posts)The Apostolic Christian Church of America (apostolicchristian.org), whose website you link to, is an Anabaptist-based denomination. That denomination currently has no congregations in Kentucky. Although the church Kim Davis attends also has "Apostolic" in its name, it is apparently a Pentecostal denomination. The two are very different.

(50,566 posts)Five times in the New Testament, Christians are instructed to greet one another with a holy kiss. This was a practice common to all Christians for hundreds of years. Like several other Anabaptist groups, we have retained this practice at our church services, men greeting men and women greeting women. The kiss is only shared between the members of the church. The application of this greeting varies somewhat, especially in other countries.
Uhh...yeah.

(6,930 posts)and cuss like a real man. You are better than these people in oh so many ways. You must be obsessed with clothes and hairstyles because you do not talk about the fact Davis is not doing her job, just how she and her hubby (whatever number he is) dress, talk, and look.
Please post a picture of your awesome and superior self. I need someone to emulate.

(31,408 posts)by telling them how to dress, what to wear, or style their hair and whether they
can wear jewelry or make-up. And I'm not married to a man who wants to tell
women how to dress but shows so little respect for the US Court that he shows
up wearing a baseball shirt and cap.
My point--if you've followed any of my posts--is that this woman is incapable of thinking
for herself. She is being used and manipulated. I don't doubt that she has a very low
opinion of herself (and probably not very smart to begin with) and has issues with authority having never separated from her mother
(for whom she worked for 20 some years) and promising to come to Jesus on a mother in law's deathbed.
Outer appearance is often a reflection of inner self. Don't tell a book by its cover? Maybe...sometimes. But
there is more behind this than just the clothing and appearance, which are just clues to consider.
So, thanks for the smarmy comment and no, I won't alert on you.

(6,930 posts)like a bunch of shallow mean girls. Nice try now to turn to act like you are blaming her religion (which is not right either). No you started a thread NOT to talk about her views and her obvious inability to carry out the duties of her job. No, you insulted her hair and her clothes. Sad.
What do you want to alert on me for anyway? Disagreeing with you? This is a board for discussion, is it not?
Sounds to me that you can sure dish it out, but oh dear, not so much take it.
