(111,277 posts)We got close to 90, then the skies opened with the kind of light rain that soaks in.
It's a far cry from the high 90s of a week or so ago.

(34,582 posts)I was at work and it was raining. I was outside smoking, not under the roof. People thought I was nuts. They asked why I was standing in the rain. I said because we don't get much of it here. I hated the rain when I lived in Cleveland, now I relish it.

(9,033 posts)I can't deal with humidity At All. But then I was born, raised and have mostly lived in the intermountain West, where 90% of the annual precipitation was snow in the winter. Thing about dry climates like that is it REALLY cools down at night, or it used to: water vapor is a greenhouse gas and without it our dry air didn't hold the heat (alas, that has changed...). I loved the cool nights and brisk mornings we had, even in summer.

Highest temps I've seen this year here. Here is northeast oklahoma
pool water was at 90 and it felt good both getting in and getting out
I prefer 86 for pool water though and usually use a water fountain to keep it at that temperature but seeing as how its going to be cooling off considerably the next several days I opted to let the temperature go up in hopes of extending my swimming time a tad.
ETA: 79.3 right now

(26,269 posts)Not at all typical. It has been a coolish summer and my tomato crop was very late in ripening. We could have used this hot weather about 2 months ago.
Today, strong thunderstorms are rolling through, for the first day of the school year.

(41,832 posts)Those sometimes turn violent and next thing ya know, your roof is gone! No thanks.. Just a simple thunderstorm is due here, (almost 3 years ago!) we need some rain relief!!

(101,322 posts)In particular, it was a dull and wet August for us: the average daily maximum was 20.9C, (71F) which is 0.9C below the 1981-2010 average, and rainfall was 198% of the average. We averaged under 5 hours of sunshine a day (so that's about twice as much cloudy as clear sky). http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/2015/august/regional-values . It could be worse - northern Scotland had an average max of 16.0C (61F), which is 0.2C above the average.

(6,476 posts)That sounds grey...or gray...and dreary. I didn't realize you were having such chilly weather this year.

(3,447 posts)According to the forecast, our second in a row and maybe tenth or fifteenth this year, and we won't break 80 again according to the extended forecast until at least September 24. It's not overly humid; our first part of summer was completely drenched, now we've been rainless for about a month (not entirely, just not more than 5-10 minutes of rain at a time).

(63,221 posts)I absolutely hate summer. My favorite temperature is in the 50's and 60's. I love the cool, crisp fall weather. I can't wait for it to get here. I am originally from upstate New York, so I like the cool temperatures.
The heat to me is almost as bad as the winter cold. I just want to be inside in the AC because I feel like I can barely breathe in the humid heat. I can handle temperatures from around 30 to 75 fareinheit, but outside of that I am intolerant. I should probably live in Europe where the temperatures are a little less extreme.
