Nebraska, Iowa delegation's 'no' votes on Iran deal won't move the needle


Freshman Rep. Brad Ashford, Dino-Neb. might get re-elected because he votes with the R's so often!

WASHINGTON — Every member of the House and Senate who represents Nebraska and western Iowa will vote against the Iran nuclear agreement.

Not that it will make any difference.

Iran tops the agenda this week as lawmakers return from their August break. And though a bipartisan majority on both sides of the Capitol plans to vote to reject the deal that President Barack Obama’s administration has agreed to, enough Senate Democrats have expressed their support for the pact to make the outcome foreordained.

“It’s lamentable that a decision of this magnitude is being made by a small minority,” said Rep. Brad Ashford, D-Neb., who on Monday joined the other members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation — all Republicans — by announcing he would oppose the deal.
