Off-duty officer questioned in neighbor's death
http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2015/09/07/lathrup-village-police-officer/71862262/A 41-year-old Detroit man died Monday evening after a backyard dispute with his neighbor, an off-duty Lathrup Village police officer.
Detroit police are questioning the officer, who was grilling dinner at about 7:40 p.m.outside his home in the 8500 block of Whitcomb near the intersection of Joy Road and Greenfield.
"The victim jumped the fence and went after the man," said Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody. "There was a physical fight. At some point the victim was struck and ultimately, it was a fatal strike. I believe the strike was to the head."

Woody said no shots were fired and it's unclear if the 51-year-old officer used something as a weapon during the fight. Several people witnessed the fight and police are questioning them as well.
