I haven't heard one word from her, just pronouncements from a parade of right wing toadies, espousing her religious righteousness.

(40,416 posts)The only way she got released is if she agrees to not interfere. Once that happened she is free to go and not do her job once more.

(42,641 posts)While ignoring what Jesus actually said about such behavior.
Mark 12:17 recounts how Jesus told his followers to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's... He was speaking specifically about taxes, but the lesson also applies here as well. Davis obviously decides for herself what teachings she will follow.

(60,536 posts)The problem here is that the attorney says she has not changed her mind, that Kim Davis is adamant that as long as her name appears on those marriage licenses, she objects and she will attempt to stop those licenses from being distributed, CNN correspondent Martin Savidge said during a live broadcast.

(10,749 posts)You can argue that the judge was foolish for releasing her after just a few days. I have mixed feelings about it.
However, there are conditions. If she abides by those conditions, then all is right(ish) with the world. If she doesn't, the real test will come when the judge has to jail her again, and keep her there this time. Let the theocrats play the martyrdom card. I don't give a damn, and the majority of Americans who believe in the separation of church and state shouldn't give a damn either. She can, as the saying goes, rot in jail. This is one of those rare instances where the person in jail has the power - like Dorothy and her ruby slippers - to go home any time she wants. All she has to say is that she will obey the law. It really is that clear.

(2,474 posts)She was released because licenses have been issued...
The judge basically said I'm gonna let you go but if you do interfere I reserve the right to haul you back. I don't think she ever came out and said 'I promise to be good '

(2,474 posts)As it stands, it just would have been an opportunity to play the poor oppressed martyr under the thumb of the jesus hating man.
Now it jives with the narrative that all of her problems are brought on herself as she refuses to comply with the law and judicial rulings... again....
Judge seems smart to me...
