Will We Now Have Christian States/Heathen States?

Will we now be divided by religious and non religious regions or states like we have "red" states & "blue" states. Could we be divided like we were during the Civil War. It just seems like we are becoming more splintered and balkanized. Cultural issues can become as divisive and destructive as anything else.
