Looking for positivity for family.

One of my cousins has a ranch outside of Middletown, California. Over half of the ranch has been destroyed. The main house, pool house and many of his barns are gone. The family and the animals are safe, but it's going to be a very long, tortured road back for him and his family after this devastation. Just heartbreaking. Have been soliciting prayers, positive thoughts and good vibes anywhere I can today for him and his family and his employees. They're going to need all of the good juju that they can gather to get through this.

Fire is one of the most destructive natural forces. I actually fear it more than any wild animal.

It makes no sense to me that we spend money bombing others and allow fires to damage our own so much.

I hope the inherent socialism in our society comes through to help all those who have been burned out.

Hopefully they can keep their focus, especially on your note that 'the family and the animals are safe'. Good on them that they have you in their corner -- many good thoughts you way!!

sending positive vibes their way.

Our insurance company was great on not arguing with us about contents replacement, but tried to
screw us out of full replacement cost for the structure (that's where the money is). We ended up
having to hire a public adjuster (give them a % of what they recovered), but in the end we finally
got paid enough to be able to pay off the mortgage. Because we had an interest only loan,
the mortgage company was supposed to reduce our payments by the amount the insurance company
originally paid (about 2/3 of the mortgage balance), but they refused. I even had our attorney
contact them and got nowhere. Finally turned to the NC Commissioner of Banks office for assistance
(they regulate banking in the state) and miraculously, within a week, the mortgage holder called ME
and apologized and finally credited the first payoff amount and reduced our payments until we managed
to get the rest out of the insurance company to be able to completely pay off the mortgage.

So, just a word of advice if they run in to problems: public adjuster (to deal with insurance co) and
CA Dept of Business Oversight (for mortgage).

That is heartbreaking. At least the people and animals are safe. They are in my thoughts.

areas by the US government? Of course they cannot do much about individuals until the fires are stopped but they can help people rebuild or relocate.

The question is do the people really want to rebuild or are they only going to rebuild to see the same thing happen next year again?
