You have to love Pope Francis way with words. On a July visit to Bolivia and its left-leaning leader, the pope denounced the new colonialism in which richer countries and international banks impose austerity programs on developing nations. In a sweeping speech that sounded quasi-socialist, the pope said the poor have the sacred rights to labor, lodging and land. He again called for a halt to the destruction of the earth before it is too late, destruction that disproportionately affects the worlds poor.
Needless to say, conservatives did not care for the popes description of capitalism as Lucifers fecal material.
Here are 4 more important ways Pope Francis has made right-wing Christians explode with rage:

I'm stealing it.
Meanwhile, I think hiring the Pope was a brilliant move on the part of the Sanders campaign.

(9,841 posts)It's a natural extension of the right to life, really. If a person born on this earth has a right to live, they have a right to all the resources necessary to sustain life, which basically means eating and drinking and breathing - that means they have a right to free & unpolluted air, free & unpolluted water, and yes, a piece of free & unpolluted land.

(45,319 posts)Since it is so important and all, we should read his full and actual words about it. If there really are such quotes.
If not, well one has to question the assertions made and the motivations for making them.

Or possibly just a singular message, regardless of whether or not we can prophecize what other people support and promote.
Though no doubt, as I support many of FDR's policies, I must (by consistent extension of your reasoning) also support the internment of Japanese-American citizens; else we are forced to assume the logical fallacy of 'it does not follow' in your premise.

(5,902 posts)A fitting coincidence, since the goal among some seems to be the shaping of capitalism in the Nigerian mold.
