Ben Carson Gaining On Trump In GOP Presidential Polls

One day before the second Republican presidential debate, Ben Carson is pulling nearly even with GOP front-runner Donald Trump, according to a new New York Times/CBS News poll.

The retired neurosurgeon has jumped to 23 percent in the poll to be released Tuesday evening. That's a significant bump up from an August CBS poll that showed the candidate at just 6 percent. Trump continues to lead the field with 27 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous poll.

While Carson has gained, Jeb Bush and Scott Walker have experienced the greatest loss of support in the poll. Bush has fallen from 13 percent to 6 percent, and Walker has dropped from 10 percent to just 2 percent.

Businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who didn't even register in the last poll, has risen to 4 percent.

1. To paraphrase an old song, "What's he got that makes people think he's so hot?"

It seems the more asinine the candidate, the more his popularity rises in the GOP.

5. Don't you think that's because he's talking at their level?

The bigots and narrow-minded audience gets it with Trump. They feel the excitement when he puts down others, which is what they do in a normal day. Palin had the same reaction from her following. The more she hit Obama with her bigotry, the more they loved it...and, her.

The RW has never liked Obama because of his intelligence. That's where the arrogant label comes from. So many of the members of congress have to be embarrassed when they finally realize Obama has zapped them again with his chess moves. He is so far above them, they can't stand it. No black should be in the White House, let alone beat them at their own game.

That's what I can't figure, he isn't able to target the bigotry of his base.

7. Well, look at the field. They aren't going to vote another Bush into the WH.

Trump is wearing thin.

Carson is a doctor and they respect that, but he is also a Christian and tells stories that bring a tear to the eye for those who will give him a listen. May not be the whole truth, but....

For instance, he can condemn welfare, but he wouldn't be a doctor if it hadn't been there for him. Short memory. He quotes Mom a lot...touching.

As someone said, his mother probably should be the candidate.

And, finally...Carson speaks softly and doesn't offend like Trump. A little bit of Trump goes a lonnnng way. Just sayin'.

2. The GOPrs are finally getting the message that Trump is a bully, loudmouth and liar.

Quite a contrast between Trump vs. Carson, not only in rhetoric, but in language and morals. I'm not a Carson or Trump admirer (nor any other GOPr), but just look at the two together. The decibel level alone would point out the difference. That crap Trump spews gets old very quickly. I would imagine that even the bigots in the Tea Party have had their fill.

If Carson can pluck Trump out of the lead, maybe they can get back to a normal Republican Clown Car that is always good for laughs. Trump is nowhere near funny, he is mean and evil. Trump has no intention of running...he's just taking the spotlight as a single...not part of the Clown Car. His ego wouldn't allow that to happen.

Once he's become tired of the stage and sees how much money he's spent on his folly, he'll find a way to step down and let the others have at it.

Watch!

9. Meh, Carson is a flavor-of-the-month candidate. He'll fade when the votes get closer.

What the heck is his qualification anyway? Separating twins is hard, but making governments work takes people skills.
