(46,436 posts)the less the better. I won't carry a purse if I can get away with putting my driver's license in my back pocket and a couple bucks in the front. Probably a camera would be the closest thing to an every day carry.

(14,733 posts)Ie, a wallet. Glasses. Also a keyring with various keys. I also wear shoes and clothes most days, at least part of the day. Nothing else is carried on a regular basis. As you might guess, I live in town, not out in the countryside. If I need a tool to do something, it's in the house, not on my person.

(1,587 posts)My change purse (wallet to a guy), with my driver's license, debit/ATM card, store discount cards and what cash I manage to gather up. Pitiful, I know.
I really need to get my stuff organized and start carrying a few things again. It seems I'm always needing something that I used to carry. I have a bag that used to be a camera bag that I carried and kept in the car, sometimes I'd bring it in if I was going to be somewhere for a while, like when I was running my parents to the doctors several times a week.
I had in it:
Tide to Go pen
tissues
toilet seat covers
pen
notepad
make up (when I was wearing makeup at work, it was in my purse, after, I kept it in the EDC bag, though I didn't call it that)
bag with Splenda packets (now it's Stevia)
small bottle of pain relief
pocket Constitution (it's actually come in handy a couple of times)
my Kindle (used to be a paperback book, but technology!)
my Palm TX (I don't carry that anymore, it lives in the bathroom so I can play solitaire while on the throne)
sunglasses
eyeglass repair kit
phone
flashlight (small Maglight my son gave me several years ago)
whatever else I needed on any given day
My change purse and keys live on my person when I'm out, and usually the phone, though I often just leave it in the car. I dislike carrying a purse, so they will be in my pockets if I have any. Otherwise, I'll either carry a purse, my bag as above, or I'll get my mother to put them in her purse.
I've been meaning to get together bug out bags, but it's not been a big priority. I also want to make up bags for each vehicle, especially now that winter is coming on. Lack of funds right now is a big barrier to getting this done.
Forgot to add: I used to carry a bottle of water, but somehow I've gotten out of the habit. Need to start that again, so I'm not tempted to buy sodas.
Oh, crap! Also had hand sanitizer and lotion, and when I wore contacts I had a case and a small bottle of either the stuff for dry eyes or saline solution. Goodness, I keep remembering all the stuff I used to carry around!

(41,833 posts)Omamori
Omamori are Japanese amulets (charms, talismans) commonly sold at religious sites and dedicated to particular Shinto deities as well as Buddhist figures, and are said to provide various forms of luck or protection.
Origin and usage
The word mamori means protection, with omamori being the sonkeigo (honorific) form of the word, "to protect". Originally made from paper or wood, modern amulets are small items usually kept inside a brocade bag and may contain a prayer, religious inscription of invocation. Omamori are available at both Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples with few exceptions and are available for sale, regardless of one's religious affiliation.
Omamori are then made sacred through the use of ritual, and are said to contain busshin (spiritual offshoots) in a Shinto context or kesshin (manifestations) in a Buddhist context.
While omamori are intended for temple tourists personal use, they are mainly viewed as a donation to the temple or shrine the person is visiting. Visitors often give omamori as a gift to another person as a physical form of well-wishing.

While visiting Miyazaki Japan, My parents visited the Miyazaki-jingu and purchased several Omamori for me. I have kept them all in plastic, and only one was opened and attached to my Cellphone.

(146,318 posts)Wallet, too many keys, pocket knife, Bic lighter and glasses. That's it. I don't normally carry my cell phone, but sometimes add it to the mix if I'm going to be far from home. No watch, because I don't much give a damn what time it is.
