They're just making a joke, and they know that some folks will also jokingly bring in their MILs for a trade-in.

Mothers-in-law and brothers-in-law from hell have been a staple of comedy for a long time.

Businesses in our community like to have some fun in their ads, and car dealers especially work hard to stand out.
