Congressman swiped pope's water glass

Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) scored a souvenir from Pope Francis’s congressional address on Thursday.

During the commotion following the pontiff’s remarks, the Pennsylvania lawmaker sneaked up to the lectern and swiped the pope’s water glass.

“Anything the pope touches becomes blessed,” Brady told The Washington Post. “I think so and no one is going to change my mind.”

Brady took the half-full glass back to his office, where he, his wife, and two staffers took turns taking sips.

I find it embarrassing that a member of congress would act like that, especially a Democrat. I sort of expect that kind of crazy from Republicans.

I drew a girl stick figure in my sausage gravy and declared it was an apparition of The Virgin Mary! My buddy and his partner took the cue and made a huge deal of it, crossing themselves and the whole works! We had the whole place roaring with laughter! They took it from me and brought me more hashbrowns and gravy, saying they were going to save it and get the word out. People from all over the world making the pilgrmage to witness the blessed gravy!

It is just a little ritual that affirms their faith in communion with each other. You sound like people poking fun at hijabs and yamakas. And what would we call those people here at DU?
