The US Had No Viable Strategy In Iraq Except To Send The Combat Divisions Back In.

Bush/Cheney's invasion of Iraq screwed things up so badly that Obama really had no winnable strategy to combat ISIS. The only power who could effectively eliminate ISIS was the US outside of some other coalitions. The Kurds are not really strong enough. Syrian fighters are questionable and virtually non existent. The Iraqis are like a hunting dog who won't hunt. They won't fight. and the Shia liberators are just as bad as ISIS. There has been no effective coalition to defeat ISIS.

Now that Syria, Russian & Iran have formed a coalition that might do the trick eventually. The problem is that the US ends up getting nothing for the invasion of Iraq. We wasted lives and all that money on a lost cause that was always a lost cause. And there will be other influences in the Middle East we did not want. And Assad will probably remain in power.

Boy are we screwed.
