it helps to build excitement.

That said, I doubt this is going to be an announcement on the order of "we found something moving under a rock". (it'd be great if it was, but not likely)

More like, okay, they've confirmed that there is liquid water that flows occasionally or there was an ocean covering the Southern Hemisphere a billion years ago, or something.

Has spent much of his professional career looking for liquid water on Mars. I suspect they'll either announce proof of liquid subsurface water or maybe something to do with the methane plumes.
