NY Times: A Pastoral Pope, Slipping Conservatives’ Grasp

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/27/us/in-pope-francis-philadelphia-visit-catholic-conservatives-hope-for-emphasis-on-basics.html

PHILADELPHIA — Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, the Vatican’s chief doctrinal watchdog, sat cross-legged in front of a large television on Friday and watched Pope Francis at the United Nations addressing a world that has warmed to the pontiff’s merciful message on issues like immigration, the poor and climate change.

“If the pope speaks about social justice, everybody will embrace him, no?” the cardinal said. “It’s not so difficult. But to speak about moral values, and the field of sexuality and matrimony and abortion and these values, is more conflictive.”

The cardinal, a conservative German in black clerical clothing, said neither the pontiff, nor his church, cared whether “Obama says the pope is a very good man” or whether a “fallible” Supreme Court legalized gay marriage. And if papal proclamations of Catholic doctrine on core issues of family have eroded Francis’ global standing, so be it.

...known world gives a speech to 200 of the world's most powerful, evil, wealthy individuals who want to establish a 'fair' system (but they just never thought of it before, that's the reason there's not one now, Global Citizen! Trust them!) to enforce on the rest of the world, including their rigged 5,000 year old monetary system, and fully half this site thinks its a great thing because those wealthy men who care OH SO MUCH about us (really, they do! It's merely happenstance that they never did before!) were 'forced' (ha!) to listen to him say something about the things that those very same people want more than anyone else in the entire world. How coincidental, that.

Like a damn violin. It's actually disgusting how transparent it is.

2. And yet Francis could sack Muller instead of taking active part in his anti equality activities

which Francis most certainly does. They are partners who produced last November a big 3 day anti marriage equality conference to which they invited every right wing bigot you can name from Tony Perkins and FRC to Maggie Gallagher and NOM, Heritage Foundation, the Southern Baptist Leadership, Rick Warren and other evangelical big wigs. Francis was the keynote speaker. People on DU put on great displays of apparently false disgust at Tony Perkins who said the Vatican hosted event in Rome was 'almost euphoric'.
Two foot hats for everyone.
