LOUISVILLE, Ky Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, a longtime Democrat, says she is switching to the Republican Party because she feels abandoned by Democrats in her crusade against same-sex marriage.
Davis made the announcement while in Washington, D.C., to attend the Family Research Council's Value Voters Summit, said Charla Bansley, a spokeswoman for Liberty Counsel, which represents Davis in her legal battles.
"I've always been a Democrat, but the party left me," Davis said, according to Bansley.
Davis will address the conservative group Friday night.

Good for her her. She is still a narrow-minded bigot.

Donald Trump on Kentucky clerk: Same-sex marriage the 'law of the land'
Washington (CNN)Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Friday that he wished a Kentucky county clerk, Kim Davis, was not jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but he added that the Supreme Court has ruled and it is "the law of the land."
"You have to go with it. The decision's been made, and that is the law of the land," the real estate mogul said Friday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe.""I would say the simple answer is let her clerks do it," he said. "Now from what I understand she's not letting the clerks do it either. The other simple answer is rather than going through this -- because it's really a very, very sticky situation and terrible situation -- 30 miles away they have other places, they have many other places where you get licensed. And you have them actually quite nearby, that's another alternative."

(41,831 posts)This woman, never in a thousand years would she back Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton, or any of the others running for President. I KNEW SHE would go to the other party, and betting that Huckabee told her, "Honey you should be a Republican because you have our values" and so good riddance because she is NO ONE we want in our party. She is the one, who someone up thread said, took a very right turn when Democrats were heading forward.
