Gwennie (she ate the couch) dog rescue by Alice Collins Woodhaven, MI

We were looking for a friend for our Great Pyenees rescue dog. We went to a no kill shelter to look at a beagle they had posted. The beagle had already had 3 or 4 applicaitons in for her. So we kept looking. My husband saw this Black Lab mix that just went crazy when she saw him. He bent down and asked her if she was going to be the next "pidlot" which was the nickname he had for our last dog. She went crazy, jumping and wagging the tail wanting to be loved. We took her to the "meeting area" in the back and played with her for a while. She picked us. The helper at the shelter asked "what would you do if she ate your couch?" Looking at each other, my husband and I just said in unision "Buy another couch". She was ours. We had a new couch, and she did indeed eat it! She chewed it all up and we had to replace it within the first 6 mnthes. But she had wiggled her way into our hearts too deep and we bought a new couch!!! She was with us for 12 years. She had a tumor in her abdomen and we were told by the vet that at her age and the size of the tumor, the chances were not very good. We decided to let her walk across the bridge today. My heart is breaking and her buddy Artie is missing her.He is searching all around the house and yard for her.

Gwennie, it won't be too long before I meet you and the rest of our family at that golden bringe where the sun is always shining and love is all around. I am sure the rest of our clan will help you become accustomed to the other side. All my love to my sweet Gwennir.
