On this illustrious board is an ad running. Normally I ignore them, but I happened to read this...

Does your resume stand out? It will

No ads will be visible on DU with a small donation. nt No Vested Interest Sep 2015 #2
I wonder how people will earn money if their resume indicates they can't spell? jtuck004 Sep 2015 #3
You are correct, of course. Employers and HR care about these things. No Vested Interest Sep 2015 #4

I would overlook it except it represents the institution, and it is selling their resume building jtuck004 Sep 2015 #6

I half-expected to see, "Start writing you're future."

And it wouldn't kill them to add the diacritical marks to "résumé," either.

"with and accredited online business degree from WGU"

Should be "with an".

Maybe if the ad copy was of higher quality they wouldn't need people to pay for the site.

And it is a payment, not a donation.

Unfortunately, editors and like personnel have been cut or perceived as unnecessary expenses by too many businesses.

I was just pointing out that many here on DU do not see the ad you are referring to because a small donation was given, perhaps at Valentine's Day when the little hearts are given for a small donation.

I, for one, am so glad to not have ads on DU, as there are far too many online, on Facebook, local newspapers, and even among the obituaries listed on Legacy.com.

I find myself doing that alot. The fingers just type 'and' when you want to say 'an'. They also often type 'that' instead of 'than'.

Ironically enough, I also read right over it in your OP.

I typed alot that way on purpose though. If I have my way, it will be added to the lexicon as colloquially correct, and refudiate will also be added to the dictionary.

I know Sarah Palin said it because she is stupid, but I still think it is a cool word, a powerful word. Refudiate - to both refute AND repudiate something. That word just goes to eleven. It's even better that abjure.

ability.

Near the top of resume mistakes - one place you really don't want to have one - you will always find spelling.

People dislike that almost as much as they dislike crayon.

In a time when your resume may be accompanied by 800 others such a mistake could leave one in poverty. They should know better.

Then again, standards are lower these days, so who knows.
