Johnny Strange 25th wingsuit jumper to die this year

People really need to stop doing this.

American Johnny Strange - who climbed the world's highest peaks at just 17 - has died while wingsuit BASE jumping in the Swiss Alps.

Strange, 23, crashed a few seconds after taking off from Mount Gitschen about noon on Friday (NZT) according to a statement from Swiss police on Friday.

Police were investigating the crash, but Swiss officials told the Associated Press that strong winds had been reported in the mountain that day.

Strange was best known for daredevil and risky stunts. Wingsuit BASE jumping was one of them. Like BASE jumping, athletes leap from a mountains, ledges and buildings.

But, yes, I've climbed zero of the seven summits so I'm not going to criticize that....

Let the adrenaline junkies get their high, and let the gene pool get filtered out a bit at the same time. After all, "he died doing something he loved"... Although I doubt anyone loves getting splattered by gravity and a large rock
