White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States, according to a study by the New America Foundation. The Washington-based research organization did a review of “terror” attacks on US soil since Sept. 11, 2001 and found that most of them were carried out by radical anti-government groups or white supremacists.

Almost twice as many people have died in attacks by right-wing groups in America than have died in attacks by Muslim extremists. Of the 26 attacks since 9/11 that the group defined as terror, 19 were carried out by non-Muslims. Yet there are no white Americans languishing inside the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. And there are no drones dropping bombs on gatherings of military-age males in the country's lawless border regions.

Of course, feelings don't actually match up to reality and scientific statistics.

In fact, the number of people who have perpetrated terrorism on US soil has overwhelmingly consisted of white males.

Let us just review. The bombing of the FBI buidling in Oklahoma was done by a white male. The shooting of innocent people in a church in SC was done by a white male. The shooting of people in a theatre in CO was done by a white male. The shooting of a congress person in AZ was done by a white male.

Clearly, white males are a threat to the safety of people in the US.

The point, IMHO, of the article was to highlight that more terrorist attacks have been done since 9/11 and yet our focus, and the media's is not on the white fundamentalist committing those problems. Why aren't there white terrorist at Gitmo instead of the population that is there now? If we are going to be serious out terrorism, we have to expand our scope of who is a terrorist and treat them the same in identifying them, interrogating them, and punishing them.

A myopic viewpoint about race clouds the issue of terrorism.

And I could be wrong, is that the folks at Guantanamo are there because they are foreign nationals and Bush didn't want them on US soil having access to US courts. Sending US citizens to Guantanamo is almost certainly unconstitutional and unnecessary, because presumably the American citizens convicted in the US are sent to US prisons.

Adjusted for population based on group (White vs Muslim, though there is a bit of overlap), it seems the Muslims are punching far, far, far above their weight class when it comes to extremist violence, compared to Whites. and making the start date post 9/11?
