Looks like idiots like George Zimmerman will soon be able to openly carry a gun in Florida

A controversial measure that would allow Floridians with concealed-weapons permits to carry those items openly in public easily cleared its first hurdle on Tuesday, but the legislation still faces several more tests before it could become law.

Florida has prohibited the open carry of firearms for nearly 20 years, and efforts in recent years by gun-rights lobbyists to change that status quo haven't been successful. The latest attempt, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, got off to a promising start Tuesday when the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee passed HB 163 by an 8-4 vote despite resistance from critics.

Gaetz said the bill "restores and vindicates" Second Amendment rights and promotes public safety. But those with concerns said the proposal should, at a minimum, include better training requirements and also better shield property owners' rights if they don't want weapons in their homes or businesses.

re-visit that festering open sewer of a state. Give me rain and frequent cloudy days here in Washington. Maybe they'll keep the Floridians away...

However, and at the risk of offending some from this state, people are crazy here as it is.

Shopper guilty in tackling of man with gun at Walmart

Tampa, Florida -- A 43-year-old man was found guilty of tackling another man who was legally carrying a firearm in a Walmart, in a case caught by surveillance video.

A jury found Michael Foster guilty of battery on Tuesday. His sentencing is scheduled for May 7.

Foster was charged after he tackled Clarence Daniels, 62, of Seffner, as he entered the Walmart on Causeway Boulevard in Brandon on Jan. 20. Daniels has a concealed carry permit, according to a release from the Council on Islamic-American Relations that represented Daniels.

Foster followed Daniels into the store, shouted, "He's got a gun," as he tackled him. Daniels said he had a permit, but Daniels continued to hold him in a chokehold.

It's almost as if the law has ways of establishing intent.

The gun grabber based his entire assault based on the same thing as your previous post: gun = threat.

It does not.
