You might consider adding a little something to your "debunking" message, to the effect of "these are the kind of lies and deceptions that prey on weak-minded victims. Sorry you fell for it."

After I started doing that, the number of RW emails in my inbox dropped dramatically.

That the author believed that voters "pull the lever" to vote for the President...using their right brain...

(Well, in the case of Right handed people )

Which made me realize why the Right & their noise machine purposely communicates with their adherents via emotion... anger, fear etc.

The information/ disinformation is therefore actually unable to break through that wall of familiar belief..

But those Bain ads and ads for Pres Obama that draw our emotion are very, very powerful.. rather than facts and figures.

But you knew all this already I just figured it out

is probably a less accurate model than higher (cortical) versus lower brain centers (thalamus, amygdala). People in the grip of strong emotions are typically unable to access their higher cognitive functions, so the trick is to keep them filled with rage & fear.
