I've seen all the bitching about how MSNBC has caved and is getting rid of "liberals." Yeah, they have cancelled a lot of liberal shows, but I disagree as to why.
MSNBC had, for the most part been an informative, "liberal leaning" cable station. And they've gotten their asses kicked in ratings by FOX "news."
Everyone seems to believe it's because of the anti-liberal corporatism of NBC. I disagree.
I believe that the reason that Fox continues to lead is because the product they sell is hate. And let's face it. Hatred sells far better than just "the plain old truth."
MSNBC is like any other business. They will sell whatever makes them money. and it seems that "truth telling" isn't profitable. So they're hanging onto "Morning Joe," and they'll probably add more of his ilk to their lineup. After all, they're a business.
So here's my point. Hate sells.
Oh, and just in case I didn't make myself clear as to why FOX does so well is because HATE SELLS.
I wish it weren't so. But don't blame MSNBC. Blame human nature.
On edit: I hate the fact that hate sells so well. It will be the downfall of America, and perhaps, all of humanity.

(2,674 posts)Yes, it is sad to see the state of affairs in the US today. Rupert Murdock is an expert at playing to the worst in all of us. It has being going on long enough that it is filtered down to every corner of society: TV talk shows bad mouthing good people, politicians spouting racial remarks and the growth of the poorer population while the rich get ever richer.
It is human nature at its worst. Look at the supposed "Christians" that embrace an agenda of hate and intolerance if other people don't believe exactly what they believe.
I wonder if things will get worse as time goes by and if so, what will be the outcome?

Roger Ailes well as Lee Attwater perfected the Subtle Hate Message's and Karl Rove and his Brother took it to the next level through mass mailing using special and localizing graphics and optics. As far as MSNBC,look no further than Phil Anshutz and his TeaBillie crowd.
